Adam Reynolds' Rib Injury: A Painful NRL Setback

Broncos skipper Adam Reynolds was forced off late in their recent loss to the Eels after a heavy direct hit to the ribs — the classic mechanism for one of the most painful injuries in rugby league.
Rib issues hurt like hell because every breath and twist aggravates them. Players often call it sharp, stabbing pain that's tough to shake.
The good news? Scans showed no fracture — just cleared of any break. That makes it mainly a pain management case rather than needing full bone healing time.
Without a fracture, it's often about controlling the pain and protecting the area. Many players bounce back fast with:
Pain meds
Injections if needed
Extra padding or taping
Reynolds is hoping to push through with padding and pain relief, and he's set to resume contact training ahead of the big clash with Melbourne. Players in similar spots frequently return the next week, though pain can sometimes force 1–2 games off, and there's always a higher risk of making it worse.
If it had been a fracture, healing would usually take 2–4 weeks (or more) before full contact.
Reyno's toughness is legendary — fingers crossed he gets through training and lines up. Broncos fans will be watching closely.
